The east end of Cayman Brac island is The Brac, or bluff. The 12-mile long island rises from sea level on the west end to a 160-foot cliff on the east end. The Brac is peppered with caves that, according to history and legend, Caribbean pirates used to stash their loot. The Cayman Islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1503. 2003 was the islands' 500th anniversary.
