Across the street from the Chateau Belize City Hotel was the Caribbean Sea. There were the remains of several old docks, where pelicans and other large sea birds would roost. Belize has no harbor for cruise ships, so small tender boats would bring the cruise ship passengers to shore very near the hotel, and a cruise party would commence in the park next door to the hotel. At night the passengers would all return to the ship and they'd be off to their next destination.
